Victoria Andrews
Helphire, Administrative Assistant
I'm currently a gap year student and joined Helphire in July 2006. I plan to go travelling around the world, and considered this job a chance to unlock opportunities in terms of a future career. I chose Helphire as it's an established company and one of the biggest in Bath. Plus, I know people who have worked here and they all said that they'd enjoyed it and were looked after - the rewards are good for someone of my age with little experience.
Since working here my computer skills have really come on: I'm using new software confidently and can now even touch type! In addition, my confidence has improved on the phone and in person. At times the work can be challenging, but overall I find the work manageable. Each day, cash, closures and phone calls taken are published on a white board for each team. This is a good way for the team manager to monitor progress, but also helps team members see how they're doing in comparison with others.
The atmosphere in Helphire is a one-off. The first thing I noticed is that all the people are friendly and eager to please. As well as this, we operate in teams with several layers within each one; this works really well as it provides a sense of security and makes it easy to settle in. The team spirit is definitely an aspect I like, as I enjoy playing hockey and watching rugby in my spare time
